Getting to Egan Gardens is easy:
From Interstate 5: Take the Brooks Exit, No. 263. Turn west on the overpass and go to River Road, the first main intersection. There’s a red light, four-way stop you can’t miss.
At this stop light, turn north (right) and go one mile. We’re on the left. You can see greenhouses from the road. You will have passed some other greenhouses before you get to us, with a sign that says “Closed Sunday.” That’s not us, we’re open every day of the week from early March until mid-October, except Easter and July 4. Call us at (503) 393-2131 if you are unsure that we’ll be open, or for other directions.
From Salem: Go all the way out River Road, through Keizer and beyond, until you feel like you’re out in the country and must have gone too far. You haven’t. When you get to the four-way stop at Brooklake Road, go another mile. We’re on the left.
From Beaverton, Tigard and Newberg: At Newberg take Highway 219 toward St. Paul. Go through St. Paul and beyond. When you come to the intersection with River Road go right (south) toward Salem. Go about three miles. We’re on the right.
Wheatland Ferry: You might enjoy taking the scenic route across the Wheatland Ferry from west side of the Willamette. Find the ferry from your side — I’ll leave that part to you. Taking the ferry works in well with winery tours and visits to the Joel Palmer House restaurant in Dayton. Cross the river on the boat, and when the access road meets Wheatland Road turn right. Turn left, the only direction it goes, on Waconda Road, the first road you come to. Turn right on River Road, go 0.8 mile. We’re on the right.
